Who can use the service?
The service allows Operators interconnected with TIM to provide their Customers with the fixed telephony network number portability service.
The Number Portability (NP) service is also known as “Service Provider Portability” (SPP).
Description of the service
Every customer of any Operator, as subscriber for a telephone number (fixed telephony network) already assigned to him/her, when switching to another Operator, may ask application of the Number Portability service for his/her number.
In order for this to happen, both the Operator which gives up the number (known as "Donating") and the Operator which receives it (known as “Recipient”) must carry out the request in accordance with a shared process, as well as the contract obligations undertaken with the customer. The Operator to which the Ministry of Economic Development originally assigned the number (known as the “Donor”) also takes part in the process.
The Number Portability service provides Operators interconnected to TIM with the tools required to carry out the service, in accordance with the regulations currently in force.
In order to make use of the Number Portability service, Operators must have their own ranges of telephone numbers assigned by the Ministry for Economic Development and have already activated the reverse interconnect service with the TIM telephone network, if necessary through a third Operator, whose network is interconnected directly with that of TIM.
A one-off amount is charged for each ported number. The standard prices are given in the Wholesale TIM Reference Offer. Ad hoc solutions to be evaluated individually are possible for particular requirements.
