Dark Fiber for connection of POPs or BTSs
TIM offers the transfer of rights of use (IRU mode) of one or more pairs of its optical fiber to Operators who need them to link their POPs, mobile network Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) or wireless network Access Points (APs).
Thanks to the capillary opticalal fiber network of TIM, the service is available throughout the country.
The grant of rights of use usually has a duration of 15 years. The maintenance service on the fibres for the duration of the grant is ancillary to the IRU.
Who can use the service?
The offer is aimed at Operators of fixed, mobile or wireless networks wishing to develop, for example:
Description of the service
The service consists of the transfer of Rights of use (IRU), for a duration of 15 years, on Optical Fibres, owned by TIM, already installed and available and/or to be installed. The optical fibres being the object of this right of use remain, however, the property of TIM.
The transfer of the fibres in IRU includes activities for the creation and/or activation of dark fiber connections.
The maintenance service is ancillary to the transfer of the fibres in IRU; such maintenance service includes both preventative maintenance activities (such as, for example, the periodic measurements on free optical fiber, the civilian maintenance of systems, sight checks of optical terminations) and corrective maintenance activities to eliminate possible causes of deterioration or disruption of service.
Telecom Italia also offers, at its sites distributed across the network, the hospitality service of the optoelectronic devices of the operator intended for fiber activation or signal regeneration.
The economic terms for the granting of the IRU on optical fiber and the maintenance service are as follows:
