GEA MEF and developments
Description of the service
During 2013, as a response to the market demand for greater performances and greater quality for Ethernet connectivity services, Wholesale TIM obtained MEF CE 2.0 EAS certification for its GEA Service.
TIM was the first operator in Europe and one of the first in the world to obtain this type of certification.
Following this recognition, TIM launched on the market the corresponding Service Profiles with the following characteristics:
Note (*): The declared performances are understood as End-to-End, namely from the L2 Switch at the customer's premises up to the delivery port on the GEA KIT and with fibre optic access.
Moreover, following along the guidelines prepared by the MEF, Wholesale TIM has further improved the GEA service in many ways.

The values given in the table should be seen as quality objectives valid for 99.9% of the samples measured in the reference time frame (as in MEF 23.1) and relate to periods of service availability on the frames that are compliant with the bandwidth values contracted.
This service profile also has: CBS >=12176 , EIR and EBS = 0.
Possibility to diversify the access technology on the end user's premises:
TIM Wholesale has provided its customers with many ways of accessing the service thus allowing diversification of the transmission medium towards the customer premises.

The service is available in all provinces of the Italian territory.
In the first months of 2014 the new direct sale process was launched which, on On-Net Exchanges, will allow Wholesale TIM customers to proceed directly with the order issuing phase, thus doing away with the preliminary Feasibility Study phase of the connection.
The direct sale applies to both Classic GEA services and GEA MEF services.
